Jess Grommet · ADVENTURER'S SUPPLY: 16bit MUSIC PACK

The 16-bit Adventurer’s Pack includes 11 high-quality, loopable music tracks and 6 ambient SFX tracks in both .wav and .ogg format - over 15 minutes of music!

These songs were inspired by some of my favorite games of the 16-bit era, including The Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past; Final Fantasy IV; Tales of Phantasia; and Donkey Kong Country. They were composed and arranged using authentic SNES soundfonts and 16-bit sample processing to recreate an authentic 16-bit sound.

I hope you enjoy finding a home for this music in your game as much as I enjoyed creating them!

Hey nice work on the soundtrack!

May i ask how you made the artwork? its super effective that it looks like a SNES cartridge and id love to make something similar.

Thanks so much for listening, and I'm glad you enjoy

I used Midjourney AI for the "painting" itself, and found a SNES cartridge overlay online which I edited in Photoshop. The fonts aren't exact, but I tried to get as close as I could with the fonts in there. Hope this helps!

That was helpful indeed! Ive always had trouble with finding artwork to go with my music for sharing purposes but it never occured to me to use AI art, so simple and royalty free (unless it generates something that happens to be exactly someone elses work but that seems unlikely). I will def give it a try. I seriously wish i had the determination to do what you did and work on a soundtrack for a game that doesnt exist.

I hope to get to a point where music packs bring in enough passive income that I could commission an artist - but until then, AI is fun to mess with!

I'd encourage you to try - I'm sure you could create a project of your own! For perspective, it took me a few weeks to finish this project - I had to fit it in at night or in the early morning around my bill-paying work.  I did it mainly to have a representation of my work that I could point to when applying for game composition gigs, and also because I wanted to practice working in the 16-bit / soundfont space. Hopefully, it will also provide some passive income as I build my reputation as a composer.

I found it helpful to first identify my goals (have some work online to point to + practice + passive income), then create something that pointed toward those goals. Maybe that would be a helpful way for you to get started on a task like this - and before you know it, you might be working on your second or third! :)

It sounds like you have a sound and reasonable goal that you started out with. Is there anywhere i could contact you outside of here so i dont clog up your comment section? I wasnt planning to spam this much but you give very constructive thoughts!

No problem! Shoot me an email at JessAGrommet@gmail.com :)
